A young couple and their adventures of hiking the Appalachian Trail
We crossed off two more states this week!!
We hiked out of Delaware Water Gap Monday morning and after hiking less than a mile we reached the New Jersey border! So exciting to be into a new state! We have completed 7 states and have 7 more to go! New Jersey was around 70 miles and still had rocks…not quite like PA but it was pretty flat and had a lot of swamp land.
We dealt with wet feet a lot again…sometimes because of rain and other times because the trail was so swampy and wet. The one day we spent two hours waiting out a rainstorm but then hiked a bit and got to a lot of trail where the path was all swampy so we ended up getting wet feet anyway. The rain has been a little discouraging some days with us needing to make miles and then every time it rains it really slows us down. We sometimes have just hiked through it with determination to not let it stop us from making our miles but then it messes our feet up and rubs the skin raw and we found out chaffing is no joke. We end of paying for it the next day if our feet get too wet…kind of a lose/lose situation.

Thursday evening we got to New York…So exciting to be in our home state! We crossed over Prospect Rock, the highest point in NY on the AT, which was beautiful with a gorgeous view of Greenwood Lake and since it was close to sunset the sky was so pretty! When we got to camp, we celebrated by making a fire, our FIRST campfire since we came back out from our break at home in July. We also enjoyed some amaaaazing haystacks for dinner!

Happy Trails,
